Biblical Principles for Christian Business Owners
It is important for a Christian-centered business to imitate Christ and be honest in its operations. Here is how a Christian should conduct his business with integrity.
Whichever work God has called you to do, analyzing your target market and your business plans will ensure that you acquire great benefits from the business. Innovation is essential for any successful business and just like Romans 2:12 advices, you should always be transformed by the renewing of your mind to doing God’s will. When Jesus was doing His missions, He was productive and inventive because He understood that there was a deeper meaning to everything that He did.
The key to developing a Christian based business is to make your business unique by implementing Gods ways during your daily operations. Your actions, decision, and thinking should be influenced by the presence of God in your life. ”Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men” (Colossians 3:23).
Do not take advantage of your customers by providing them with inferior products in order to make more profit. Cheating your customers will lower your reputation and you will not be imitating the example of Christ. ”A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver and gold” (Proverbs 22:1).
As Paul said in (Titus 3:8), devote yourself to doing what is good to make it profitable for everyone else. Provide your clients with the highest level of customer service in order to honor God. You also be demonstrating Gods power to transform the lives of your employees and customers.
Success of a business is good but do not engage in selfish ways to acquire more wealth while depressing your customers. Build a successful business guided by the standard and principles of God. “A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).
Additionally, a Christian business ought to have a commitment to its employees and provide them with equal opportunities for growth. Compesate them fairly and recognize their performance without focusing on their age, gender, color or race. When you apply a level of fairness when paying your employees, you will drastically reduce employees issues in your organization.
Finally, always be humble and accept criticism from your employees, business associates or even from your customers. Encourage criticism from your employees because they understand the business better and also listen to your customers reviews so that you will understand what they need and what changes need to be made. This way, you will not only improve your business but also create a friendly environment for your employees and customers.
